INFOCHANNEL INTRODUCES ACCELERATED DIAL-UP POWERED BY PROPEL SOFTWARE
Dial-up Users Will Now Surf the Web up to 5 Times Faster

InfoChannel continues its strong tradition of being the first to bring innovative IT products to the Jamaican market with the introduction of Marathon Accelerator Internet service, the first accelerated browsing dial-up service to be offered locally. Marathon Accelerator offers unlimited access and uses Speed Surf an acceleration software programme that allows users to browse the Internet up to five times faster using a regular dial-up connection.

Nicholine Dixon, InfoChannel’s Marketing Manager, explained that Speed Surf is InfoChannel’s brand name for acceleration-technology software developed by Propel Software Corporation, a San Jose California based company. Propel was founded by Steve Kirsch, a Silicon Valley entrepreneur and IT pioneer, whose previous efforts have been snapped-up by giants like the Disney Corporation and Adobe. “We are pleased to working with InfoChannel to bring this important service to the Jamaican market,” said Steve Kirsch, founder and CEO of Propel. “Not everyone has access to broadband, and with SpeedSurf, powered by Propel, InfoChannel is offering a powerful alternative.”

Marathon Accelerator with the Speed Surf software brings an enhanced Internet product, previously available only in the United States through market leaders such as EarthLink, to an increasingly demanding Jamaican market.

Marathon Accelerator is being offered to new customers at the competitive price of US$ 35.00 per month, and will be offered to existing Marathon customers as a free upgrade. Users are supported by InfoChannel’s Customer Care Representatives every day of the week, including weekends. This innovative new product should excite the Jamaican market, particularly the prime target users in the 15-35 age group who have enthusiastically embraced the power of the Internet.

InfoChannel has been at the forefront of the battle for the deregulation of the telecommunications industry in Jamaica. InfoChannel also offers many innovative IT related products such as NetKyaad, a prepaid Internet access card and Yap Jack, a voice over Internet phone (VOIP) system, which allows tremendous savings to users on overseas telephone calls. Marathon Accelerator is another in a long line of InfoChannel’s innovations into the Jamaican market and should help the company retain its position as one of the leaders in Jamaican Internet Service Providers.
