NetStream VOIP is a Voice Over Internet Protocol service that offers residential and business customers unlimited overseas calls at reduced rates, using a standard telephone and broadband connection.

With NetStream VOIP you connect your telephone handset to your ADSL modem, using the phone adapter we give you. When you pick up the phone, the phone adapter converts your voice into data and sends it through the Internet like an email. Our network sends the call where you want it and translates it back into voice. When the person you're calling picks up the phone, it sounds just the same as any other call. When someone calls you, they dial your number, your phone rings, and all you have to do is pick up and answer it. The only difference is a lower phone bill!!!

To get started there is a one time activation fee of US$ 40.00 plus the first month’s payment for the plan of your choice. Deductions will be made for calls made to countries outside your plan, from the initial cash balance at the start of service. Therefore if you subscribe to a (US/UK/Canada plan) but also made additional calls to Barbados, these calls will be deducted at the standard per minute rate to Barbados. Infochannel’s NeStream VOIP Plans will significantly reduce the communication costs for both our business and residential customers. All our NetStream customers are allocated a US or Canadian inbound phone number. This allows each customer to allocate this number to someone in the US or Canada, who will only be charged for a local call, once they use the US or Canadian number given.

Residential Users:

For example; A father who resides in Jamaica and has a daughter in the U.S. purchases NetStream VOIP service and is given a U.S. inbound phone number. When the number is dialed, the phone attached to your telephone adapter will ring at your location and the daughter will only be charged for a local call. The father will enjoy the benefits of more affordable unlimited international calling rates, while the daughter enjoys lower phone bills!!!

Business Users:

A company located here in Jamaica with its parent company overseas can allow the parent company to enjoy local call charges using the U.S. inbound number they receive. Likewise local companies wishing to establish themselves in overseas markets can enjoy the same benefits.

1. What is NetStream VOIP?
NetStream VOIP is a Voice Over Internet Protocol service that offers residential and business customers unlimited overseas calls at reduced rates, using a standard telephone and broadband connection.

2. Do I need to have Internet service for NetStream to work?
Yes. You need a Broadband or High Speed Internet connection for the VOIP service to work.

3. Why do I have to have a Broadband Connection?
A Broadband connection is needed for the following reasons:

(a) All Voip services recquire a higher bandwidth than dialup speed can facilitate to ensure a high sound quality on voice calls.

(b) A primary benefit of having a Broadband connection is the ability to receive incoming calls as with a standard landline, and this requires a constant connection to the Internet.

(c) NetStream hardware is not designed to interface with standard landline connections.

4. What is a Broadband or High Speed Internet Connection?
Broadband is high-speed Internet access such as through a Cable or DSL modem. It gives you a continuous connection to the Internet. If you have to dialup to an access number to reach the Internet then you do not have broadband.

5. Is there a Minimum Speed Requirement for NetStream?
NetStream requires a minimum bandwidth of 128kbps. However for customers who wish to both use the Internet while making a call using the VOIP service, Infochannel recommends a Bandwidth of 512kbps.

6. What are the start-up costs?
A standard NetStream service costs only US$ 40.00 initially, plus the cost of your desired calling plan.

8. Does the computer need to be on to make a call?
No.. Simply make calls from the telephone connected to the adapter.

9. What are the monthly costs?
The monthly cost will depend on the plan of your choice. We offer bundled minute plans that start from as low as US$ 9.99 per month. We also offer unlimited monthly plans starting from US$ 24.99 per month.

10. Do incoming calls count against my monthly minutes?
No. The person making the call is responsible for paying for that call. Outgoing toll free calls and incoming calls are always free with NetStream.

11. Can I Change plans?
Yes, you can switch to a new plan at any time. Provided that there’s an unused portion on your account, you will be refunded the amount. This figure will be applied to the cost of your new plan.

12. What happens if I do not choose a US or Canadian telephone number?
You will be able to make outgoing calls at the rates indicated in your NetStream VOIP Plan. You will however require a US or Canada number to receive incoming calls.

13. Am I tied into any contracts?
No. Unlike with other providers, Infochannel does not bind our customers to any contract.

14. What do you mean by Unlimited Monthly calls?
Unlimited monthly calls are calls included in your monthly plan fee except for calls made to mobile phones, which are not included in some unlimited plans and/or to out of plan destinations.

16. Can I install and set up NetStream myself?
Yes you can. A User Guide comes with the equipment providing step by step instructions for set up.

17. Will my number be listed?
While NetStream numbers will display on caller ID with NET2PHONE as the caller name ID, your NetStream number remains private and is not listed in any directory.

18. Am I Allowed to select my own US or Canadian Telephone Number?
No. NetStream allows you to select the area code of the number you would like, however we determine the final 7 digits of your number.

19. Can I use the NetStream Equipment Overseas??
Yes you can. The NetStream device can be used anywhere in the world, provided that you have a high-speed Internet connection, an Ethernet modem, and a telephone.

20. Do I need a second line for NetStream?No. You can have your current telephone line upgraded to High Speed Internet so that you can enjoy both NetStream calling and Internet access on the same line.

21. How do I make a call?Just pick up the handset connected to the NetStream device and dial your number. To make an International call, dial your overseas number as you normally would from a traditional fixed or mobile phone.

22. Do I have to be an Infochannel customer to get NetStream?Yes. All you have to do is visit our office or complete an application form online. Please ensure that the Broadband connection that you already have with your Internet Service Provider has a minimum bandwidth of 128kbps.

24. Can I use NetStream to make local phone calls?
NetStream is suitablel for international calling. If clocal calls are made to Jamaican telephone numbers (fixed and mobile) these will attract international rates.

25. What rate is used for GCT?
GCT is calculated at 20%.

26. How am I billed?
NetStream VOIP is a Prepaid service; Therefore all monthly unlimited plans are paid for in advance of receiving service. With pay-as-you-go plans a bill will be sent to you each month reflecting your call charges.

27. If I have already purchased an InnoMedia device abroad, can I transfer to Infochannel’s NetStream VOIP service?
Yes you can, once the device is compatible with the service.

28. Does the Adapter work with any special type of phone?
No. Any standard telephone will work with NetStream. Cordless phones provide the most convenience. Simply connect the base of your cordless phone to your telephone adapter and walk around your house while you talk.

29. Can I call countries outside my Plan?
Yes. Out of Plan calls are allowed, but these are billed at regular per minute rates. Click here to see our rates.

30. Can I use the NetStream phone while I am online?
Yes. You can surf the Internet and make a VOIP call using NetSpeak at the same time. For an optimal service, Infochannel suggest you get a 512kbps connection.
